Members of the Regional Development Council South met in an ordinary virtual meeting

The members of the Regional Development Council (RDC) South of the 4th legislature met today, September 18, this year, in an ordinary session. The meeting was conducted online, taking into account the evolution of the current epidemiological situation at the national level and the increasing trend in the number of COVID-19 cases.

The meeting was chaired by the president of RDC South, Piotr Pușcari, announcing that it was deliberative given the presence of 18 councilors out of the total number of 27 members.

After stating the objectives of the meeting, the members of RDC South proceeded to examine the main issues on the agenda.

These included issues related to the online conduct of RDC South meetings, the establishment of a commission to draft the Rules of Organization and Functioning of the Regional Development Council South , and the delegation of RDC South members to the Committee for the Evaluation of concept notes and complete applications for funding, submitted under the Competitive Call for the selection of projects for funding from the National Fund for Regional Development.

Also, the members of RDC South took note of the information presented by the director of RDA South, Maria Culeșov, regarding the progress and evolution of the implementation of the projects financed by the European Union and the German Development Bank KfW.

In the same vein, the director of RDA South informed the members of the regional forum about the projects implemented by RDA South from the sources of the National Fund for Regional Development and those in progress. The members of RDC South have documented themselves regarding the progress made during the execution of works, the volume of resources allocated and capitalized for each project, being also notified of the main problems and impediments the entrepreneurs currently face and which lead to delays in the works and non-compliance with the execution schedule

At the same meeting, the Regional Development Council South approved, by a majority of its members, the project proposal in support of RDC to be implemented by RDA South with the financial support of the project "Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova" (MLPS), implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

Also, the members of RDC South took note of the progress registered in the implementation of the action "Empowerment of Citizens in the Republic of Moldova", financed by the European Union and delegated a representative to the Steering Committee of the action.

RDC South is a deliberative regional structure, without legal personality, established in order to develop, coordinate and monitor the regional development policy at the level of the Southern Development Region (RDS), which includes the districts of Stefan Voda, Causeni, Cimislia, Basarabeasca, Leova, Cantemir, Cahul and Taraclia. RDC South has 32 members, being composed of the presidents of the component rayons, one representative of the mayors' associations, of the civil society and of the private sector from each RDS rayon. RDC South members exercise their duties free of charge.
