CAHUL, 9 June 2014 Roundtables took place in developing regions of the country, in the context of the Moldova Business Week with participating members of the Government from local and central public authorities, representatives of business and Regional Development Agencies. In this context, the Ministry of Economy in partnership with the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction and the South Regional Development Agency, organized a round table where they met businessmen in the south region. It was one of the biggest events in the area of business development. "The South Region has made a leap of faith, but we have worked very much to align with the Central and North Regions. Regions must now develop much faster than the major cities in the country to overcome disparities in development. Thus, the conditions will be provided for economic development and decent living conditions for all citizens of the country, "declared Valeriu Lazăr, Deputy Prime Minister, from the Ministry of Economy. Within the Conference, RDA Specialists presented potential south region investment projects for the south region, and urged more active involvement of entrepreneurs, because the support of the private sector is one of the priorities of regional development policy. Representatives from ODIMM and MIEPO and of the South Regional Development Agency presented programs that support local public authorities and the business community, which responded to the questions of those present. In the end, the Deputy Prime Minister Valeriu Lazăr stressed that expectations in South Region are very high to become an important growth pole in the South. Spas, natural landscapes and the outlet on the Danube offers opportunities that are not yet fully harnessed, and their development will create new jobs. We reiterate, this event took place in the context of the Moldova Business Week 2014, which will be carried out during the period June 5-12, and involves several events: Forums with exporters, Diplomatic Economic Club and Vienna Economic Forum which will culminate in an investment conference with the participation of European Commission President, Jose Manuel Barroso.
