Prime Minister Iurie Leancă visited "Apa-Canal Cahul"

On 27 March 2014 the Prime Minister Iurie Leancă, conducted a working visit to the District of Cahul. He visited the water pumping station in the village of Roșu, which has been renovated as part of a project supported by European partners and implemented by the South Regional Development Agency. Thanks to these investments 2100 inhabitants of Roșu (i.e., 75%), have drinking water.

Iurie Leancă said that regional development is a sector that has benefited in recent years, by increased attention. "This is European integration that we want to work for the well-being of every citizen and the modernization of the State. This is how we integrate into Europe, by bringing European values and standards in the daily life of each of the inhabitants of the country, "the Prime Minister said. In this context, the Chief Executive thanked the Governments of Germany and Romania, which contributed nearly three million lei to the rehabilitation of water pump and water supply infrastructure in the village.

Present at the event, Matthias Meyer, German Ambassador in Chisinau, stressed the importance of the project for the rural development of the Republic of Moldova. "I'm from the country, a common German. I know the problems of drinking water. We managed to bring water into our village in 10 years year period which was the time needed to implement a similar project. You are lucky, you have managed in only two years, "said Matthias Meyer.

Soon, residents of Roșu will have access to a sewage network, which will be built thanks to a contribution of 720 thousand euros, granted by the German Agency for International Development (GIZ).

The Prime Minister visited the enterprise "Apa-Canal Cahul", where the technical and dispatcher bloc have been renovated thanks to the support of 34,000 euros, granted by the same German partners. The dispatcher was introduced to SCADA, the newly implemented system, which is in charge of the on-line monitoring of the situation at the pumping stations (displays the index of consumption flow of water per hour, the water level in the tank, the pressure in water pipelines and electricity consumption).

Non-refundable government financial assistance to Germany for the modernization of local public services of the Republic of Moldova, in the 2010-2015, will cost about 18 million euros.
