The priorities of EU assistance in regional development, for the period 2014-2017

Pirkka Tapiola, head of the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Moldova, had a meeting with Marcel Răducan, Minister of Regional Development and Construction. Officials discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of regional development and set priorities for assistance in the period of 2014-2017. The meeting was held in the afternoon, 4 December 2013, at the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction. Minister Marcel Răducan presented the results of implemented regional development projects which have contributed to improving the standard of living for rural area inhabitants.

The head of the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Moldova communicated the importance for continuity in the activities planned and provide information and support methodology necessary to achieve regional sectorial programs. Also, the official mentioned the areas of assistance for the period of 2014-2017.

In his turn, Minister Marcel Răducan communicated that recipients of regional development projects are mainly inhabitants of rural areas and in 4 years the citizens have realized that through regional development projects living conditions can be improved and the necessary preconditions can be created for local economic development. The Minister pointed out that the transparency of the selection process and the financing of such projects ensures their effectiveness.

At the end of the meeting, Marcel Răducan thanked the European official for their financial support from the European partners in the implementation of projects, implementation of initiatives proposed by the institution and expressed his gratitude for the opportunities offered in the process of developing our country and promote the well-being of our people.
