About 58 million lei will be provided from the state budget, through the National Fund for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Environment, to improve the living and labour standards in rural areas. The money will be provided for the realization of 69 projects for the improvement and development of economic infrastructure, diversification of the economy and development of rural localities.

According to the Secretary of State for Regional and Rural Development Policies, Dorin Andros, applications for subsidies in advance for the development of projects in rural areas were selected following a call for project proposals, held on February 17 - May 20, 2020. The official also mentioned: "A total of 103 dossiers were received, with a total value of about 160 million lei, and those selected are eligible and meet the conditions for funding. The winners must submit, within 60 working days from the date of receipt of the notification regarding the selection of the funding dossier, the supporting documents regarding the co-financing capacity. Confirmation will constitute the basis for signing the subsidy agreement in advance, otherwise they will not receive funding".

Thus, as a result of the evaluation of the dossiers, the projects were selected and accepted for financing as follows:

Measure no. 1: Improvement and development of rural public economic infrastructure - 20 investment projects with the approved amount of about 29 million lei.

Measure no. 2: Renovation and development of rural locality - 48 investment projects with the approved amount of about 28 million lei.

Measure no. 3: Diversification of rural economy through non-agricultural activities, an investment project with the approved amount of about 0.5 million lei.

We specify that, for measure 1 "Improvement and development of rural public economic infrastructure" and measure 2 "Renovation and development of rural locality", the amount of subsidy granted will constitute 80% of the value of the eligible investment, but will not exceed 3,000,000 lei. Applicants for subsidies under these two measures will be level-one local public authorities.

For measure 3 "Diversification of rural economy through non-agricultural activities", the amount of the subsidy granted will constitute 50% of the value of the eligible investment, but will not exceed the amount of 1,000,000 lei. Applicants for subsidies under this measure will be both, legal persons and natural ones, registered in accordance with national law and creating or developing non-agricultural activities.

The dossiers were evaluated and selected based on the evaluation criteria, which correspond to the conditions of the Regulation on granting subsidies for improving living and labour standards in rural areas from the National Fund for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Environment, approved by Government Decision no. 476/2019.
