IDIS "Viitorul" Promotes the Involvement of Civil Society in the Process of Providing Modern Local Public Services in the Development Region South

IDIS "Viitorul" NGO, selected by the German Federal Enterprise for International Cooperation (GIZ) to promote the involvement of civil society in the process of modern local public services providing in the Development Region South, was present on Friday, March 23, at an ordinary working meeting at the Regional Development Agency (RDA) South.

According to the contract, IDIS "Viitorul" has to facilitate the mobilization of the community within four projects implemented in the Development Region South. Two projects - in the field of Water Supply and Sewerage (WSS) and two projects - in the field of Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings (EEPB) will be implemented by GIZ and funded by the European Union, within the project: "Modernization of the Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova" (MLPS).

The Director of the RDA South, Mrs Maria Culeşov, thanked the project partners for their support, highlighting the importance of mobilization and active involvement of the community in the implemented projects in the Development Region South with the support of the "Modernization of the Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova" (MLPS) project. The director also expressed the confidence that civil society involvement would raise citizens' awareness of needing access to efficient and sustainable services in the field of WSS and EE.

Mr Anatol Moldovan, the IDIS "Viitorul" expert, reiterated the commitment of the institution to facilitate performed activities within the four projects implemented in the Region South and to monitor the evolution of the investment measures.

In this context, Mr Pleșca Sergiu, the regional advisor on Local Public Services MLPS/ GIZ said that the implementation of these four projects will be based on the "5 Pillars" approach, which involves all stakeholders in this complex process.

 "Modernization of Local Public Services in the Republic of Moldova" (MLPS) project is implemented by the German Federal Enterprise for International Cooperation (GIZ) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment of the Republic of Moldova and financially supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), European Union, Government of Sweden, Government of Romania and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
