Regional Development Policy in the Context of European Regional Policy

The Ministry of Regional Development and Construction (MRDC) held a roundtable for the "Regional Development Policy in the Context of European Regional Policy".

The purpose of the event was to bring together decision makers from sectorial ministries, and also from other central public authorities, which are responsible for coordinating the implementation of development policies at the central level.

The round table was organized to unify the efforts of central public administrations for the implementation of sectorial policies which intersect with regional development policy and strategy that is promoted and conducted by MRDC.

Liviu Oboroc, the Vice Minister of Regional Development and Construction, mentioned that in the context of the requirements of the EU, as well as on the basis of the experiences presented by foreign experts, it is necessary to create an inter institutional network, able to work effectively within the institutions of the branch in order to achieve the objectives set out by the strategic documents.

At the meeting, discussions were held on the applicable mechanisms in the Republic of Moldova to focus available resources that might provide a general framework for efficient and sustainable development. Participants also identified the tangential points each institution promotes in the central government with the MRDC that is conducted through regional development policy.

At the same time, the participants endorsed the need to establish and promote mechanisms for collaboration, exchange of experiences, information, methodologies applied, etc.
