The first workshop on cross-border Programs, held in the South Region

The State Chancellery, in cooperation with the South Regional Development Agency (South RDA) and the project "Modernization of Local Public Services in Republic of Moldova", implemented by the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ), organized a workshop on national advisory process for the elaboration of new cross-border cooperation programs financed under the European Neighborhood Instrument within the period of 2014-2020.

The workshop was held in Cimișlia on September 5 and was the first in a series. The workshop was attended by representatives of the LPA levels I and II, from Districts Basarabeasca, Cimislia, Stefan Voda, and Căușeni, Civil Protection Service and Exceptional Circumstances from the Ministry of Internal affairs (MIA), consultants from GIZ and specialists from South RDA.

The aim of the workshop was to contribute to:

-informing potential applicants concerning the opportunities offered under the new cross-border cooperation programs;

-launching the consultative process at the national level, on the selection of thematic objectives and eligible actions to be included in the documents of the joint operational programs for Romania-Republic of Moldova in the Black Sea basin, for 2014-2020

The Working Group analyzed the current situation within the framework of cross-border cooperation programs, instruments and objectives within the European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI), for the programs that are eligible in the period 2014-2020. They were studied on the basis of priorities and strategic objectives, tailored to the specifics of each region.

Thematic priorities which should be taken into account are:

  • Improving the living conditions of local communities through joint projects in the field of economic and social development;
  • Resolving common problems in the fields of environment, employment, and public health;
  • Culture, education and sport.

The members appreciated the experience of previous programs (2007-2013), and stressed the responsibility of State and society structures towards the achievement of this programs-2014-2020.

Note that the actual launch of the program will take place in 2014, which is the term for the submission of applications for funding, and therefore these workshops can be an opportunity to know in detail the conditions of the application.

Workshops on cross-border programs will be in stages and also provided in the North and Central Regions, until the beginning of October.
