Regional development –ambitious social impact policies and news topics

Ministry of Regional Development and Construction (MRDC) in partnership with the German Agency for International Development (GIZ) presented the challenges and prospects of regional development in a training course held from august 1-3, 2013. The event with the theme regional development - from ambitious social impact policies and news topics, was aimed at the representatives of media institutions and introduced the objectives and challenges of the implementation of regional development projects in the settlements of the Republic of Moldova, the analysis of the process of regional development, and the promotion of European practices to improve the living conditions in terms of regional development.

Marcel Răducan, Minister of Regional Development and Construction, spoke about the role and the importance of regional development in our country. He talked about how he started this process and to the objectives of the MRDC. The official also noted the priorities of regional development projects and the role of regional development Agencies in North, Central and South. He also thanked the development partner GIZ for supporting and promoting regional development in our country.

          

At the same time, the Minister noted that it is important to present visited domains with successes and failures, so that all stakeholders in the promotion of regional development in the Republic of Moldova can become aware that sustainability and effectiveness of projects are based on cooperation, collaboration and effective communication. Once again, this will pressure institutions make the process transparent and everyone will fulfill their duties.

For his part, Philipp Johannsen GIZ country representative and project manager of the modernization of local public services stressed the role of public communication to stimulate citizens' participation in regional development projects. This can be successful only if the citizens are involved; they pay their bills on time and monitor the quality of services provided. The role of journalists is to be an intermediate for communication between authorities and citizens and to watch over the use of investments.

The Agenda of the seminar was to have plenary sessions, with individual and group discussion exercises. Seminars will visit locations where they have been or are implementing regional development projects.

At the workshop was attended by approximately 20 representatives from institutions in the country, press officials of MRDC, GIZ representatives, specialists in communication from South RDA and experts in communication.

The South Regional Development Agency was represented by Director Maria Culeșov, who came up with a comprehensive presentation on the theme Attracting Investments and Creating Partnerships in the South Region and Anna Donia, who is a specialist in communication for South RDA.
