South RDA-example of implementation of regional development policy for ATU Gagauzia

Cimișlia/25 July 2013/Ministry of Regional Development and Construction and the South Regional Development Agency held a meeting with representatives of the Gagauzia involvement in regional development policy promoted in the Republic of Moldova. The meeting was attended by: Mr. Igor Malai, Chief Director General Direction for Regional Development; the Director of the South RDA, Ms. Maria Culeșov, South RDA professionals and Latvia-Twinning expert, Gints Freimanis. Present from the Administrative Territorial Unit Gagauzia was: Mr. Vice President of People's Committee, Alexander Tarnavskii; Vice President of the Executive Committee, Chief of the Department of Economic Development, Chiurcciu Vitalie, etc.        

    

Ms. Maria Culeșov, Director of the South RDA, provided information about the structure and activity of the Agency, from the foundation up to the present. She presented the South Regional Development Agency's principles, function, the developmental strategy and the Regional Operational Plan. Ms. Tatiana Aramă, head of strategic planning, presented a broad information base in regards to the regions' strategy. Mr. Eugen Lupașcu, Chief of the Project Management Department, provided detailed information on the implemented and ongoing projects in the South region. He also talked about the about the principles of project elaboration and implementation.

In the end, there was a question-answer session in which the representatives of the ATU Gagauzia demonstrated interest in the subtleties of regional development processes and the functioning mechanisms of regional development policy. The representatives from Gagauzia expressed their thanks for the session, as well as confidence in a fruitful collaboration with South RDA. In turn, Mrs. Maria Culeșov promised them full support and advice, in order to promote regional development and policy in the administrative territorial unit Gagauzia.
