Monitoring visit of the construction works of the Cahul-Lebedenco-Pelinei-Găvănoasa-Vulcăneşti-Alexandru Ioan Cuza main aqueduct and the local networks in Lebedenco

The director of the RDA South, Mrs Maria Culeşov, the specialist in implementing and monitoring projects from the Regional Development Agency South and the regional advisor from the German Federal Enterprise for International Cooperation(GIZ), carried out a monitoring visit within the" Construction of the Cahul-Lebedenco-Pelinei-Găvănoasa-Vulcănesti-Alexandru Ioan Cuza main aqueduct and of the local networks in Lebedenco, Pelinei, Găvănoasa" project. This investment measure is jointly implemented by the RDA South and the German Federal Enterprise for international Cooperation (GIZ), with the financial support of the Government of Switzerland and the contribution of the beneficiary communities.

At the construction sites, the progress of the works during the first stage of the mentioned project was checked. It was noted that at the moment, according to the schedule, the works on construction of 11,074 km of aqueduct, from Cahul to Lebedenco are in full swing. The pipeline is already assembled by the "Polimer Gaz Conducte" LLC in proportion of 95 percent. Also, the contractor is performing works for the installation of two above ground metallic tanks for drinking water, of 800 m3 capacity each of them. Another 4 tanks of 50 m3 capacity each are already installed in Lebedenco village.

Also, the contractor performs works on the construction of the local aqueduct networks in Lebedenco village. About 2665 citizens from this village will have access to the drinking water source. At the moment, these works have been executed in a proportion of 15 percent. 25 km of local drinking water distribution network in Hutulu, Ursoaia and Lebedenco villages are planned to be built, with 884 connections of the households, public institutions and businesses to the newly built aqueduct.

The execution of the above-mentioned works is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), through the German Federal Enterprise for International Cooperation (GIZ).

For the implementation of this investment project, the construction stage of the aqueduct local networks in Lebedenco, Hutulu and Ursoaia, the Lebedenco Mayoralty has committed itself to bring own contribution of 1 million 768 thousand MDL.

The contractor "Polimer Gaz Conducte" LLC, plans to complete the construction works of the Cahul - Lebedenco - Pelinei - Găvănoasa - Vulcăneşti (villages) - Alexandru Ioan Cuza main aqueduct (Stage I) till the end of April - beginning of May 2019. The local aqueduct networks for Lebedenco, Hutulu and Ursoaia localities will be finished by the end of June.

The second phase of the project means the construction of the main pipeline in Pelinei, Găvănoasa, Vulcănești and Alexandru Ioan Cuza villages, and is currently in design phase. Also, the financing of the design works the connection of the Vulcănești Railway Station and the Free Economic Zone "Valcaneș" to the Cahul-Pelinei-Găvănoasa-Vulcănești-Alexandru Ioan Cuza main aqueduct, was approved as part of the "Modernization of water supply services in Cahul district" project.

It worth mentioning that the investment measure "Construction of the Cahul - Lebedenco - Pelinei - Găvănoasa - Vulcăneşti (villages) - Al. Ioan Cuza main aqueduct and the local networks of the Lebedenco, Hutulu, Ursoaia, Pelinei, Sătuc, Găvănoasa, Vladimirovca and Nicolaevca villages from Cahul", is part of the program fo modernization of the drinking water supply services of the localities from the Cahul district. This one foresees the extension and modernization of the water supply system in 11 localities from the Cahul district (cluster D) and Vulcănești, minimizing the sanitary risks in the area, supplying with drinking water according to national standards and the Drinking Water Directive.
