More than 38 million MDL will be allocated in 2019 from National Fund for Regional Development for the implementation of projects in the Development Region South

On December 26, 2018, at the meeting of the National Coordination Council for Regional Development (NCCRD), the Plan for Implementation of the National Strategy for Regional Development 2016-2020 for the 2019 year was approved. The NCCRD decided the distribution of the sources from the National Fund for Regional Development (NFRD) in 2019 for financing and implementing investment projects in North, Central, South and ATU Gagauzia regions of the Republic of Moldova.

For the 2019 year, a total budget of 38,626,165.39 MDL from the NFRD was approved for the Development Region South. 17,011,939.61 MDL were allocated for completing the «Development of the Business Infrastructure by Connecting Localities and Local Roads on the Corridor 20 - DR South, R34-Sîrma-Tomai-Sărăteni-Hîrtop - to the National Road Network" investment project, implemented by the Regional Development Agency South.

Also, this year, from the FNDR sources it is planned to allocate 7,000,000 MDL for the continuation of the implementation process of the project "Construction of sewerage system in Traian valley area and the modernization of the sewerage treatment plant from Căuşeni". This project of a total cost about 64 mil MDL started by the RDA South in 2017. For its implementation, until now, 6,364,021.35 MDL from the NFRD have been spent.

Another project that has to be completed by the RDA South in the current year is "Thermal rehabilitation of the Cantemir District Hospital (Surgical Block)". This investment measure of a total cost of 12,164,444.00 MDL aims to increase the comfort of the Surgical Block of the Cantemir District Hospital by streamlining the heat consumption.

The RDA South started it at the end of 2017, up to now, 10,276,564.24 MDL from National Fund for Regional Development have been used for implementation of this project. For the completion of the works within this project 2,001,020.35 MDL is needed, so the NCCRD will allocate this amount for the 2019 year.

This year, the RDA South has also to implement two other projects related to the development of Business Infrastructure: "Sustainable Development of the Industrial Park Cahul as a Business Support Structure of a Regional Importance" and "Opportunities for Investment Attractiveness in the Economy of the Development Region South". In order to ensure the continuity in the successful implementation of these projects, the NCCRD decided to allocate 3,000,000.00 MDL from the NFRD for each project.

This year, the NCCRD approved the financing for the project "Construction of the access road to Chistoleni Monastery", which aims to stimulate the tourism development of the area by improving the infrastructure of the access road to the tourist destination of a national importance - The Chistoleni Monastery in Basarabeasca district, which could also be included in the international tourist routes.

The total cost of the project, according to the application for funding, is 9,657,550 MDL. This year, for the implementation of this project, 6,613,205.43 MDL from the National Fund for Regional Development is to be allocated.
