MLPS project Monitoring Committee meeting for reporting period January - December 2017 took place

On 23 February 2018, members of Monitoring Committee of 'Modernization of Local Public Services' (MLPS) project implemented by German Development Cooperation through GIZ met in a working meeting. The goal of the session was to discuss the project activities and progress in the reporting period January - December 2017 and activities planned for next period.

The event was attended by representatives from Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MARDE), Regional Development Agencies (North, Centre, South and TAU Gagauzia), development partners and MLPS co-financing partners, as well as, MLPS project advisors.

Igor Malai, Head of Regional Development Policies Division, MARDE: 'We appreciate the successful activities which were held in the previous year and now we need to analyse them and talk about the achieved results. We would like to mention that people in the regions welcome our activities, because projects implemented by us improve citizens living conditions. We would also like to express our gratitude to development partners for their support and such meetings are very necessary in order to achieve the goals set'.

Christina Otto, MLPS project manager: 'We had a dynamic year from regional development point of view and here we talk about central pubic administration reform. It should be also mentioned that following the Agreement signed between Germany and European Union, recently 18 Memoranda of Understanding were signed for the implementation of water and energy infrastructure modernization projects in North, Center and South Development Regions'.

During the meeting, MLPS/GIZ advisors talked about the achievements and challenges encountered in the four intervention areas of the project during the reporting period. They, also, mentioned the activities planned for the next quarter and pointed out the challenges that might appear in the future, identifying, at the same time, the possible solutions in this respect.
