The South Regional Development Council concerned about the region's water supply

The second ordinary meeting of the south RDC was held today in the city of Cahul, and the first meeting of the South RDC this year took place in the District of Leova.

The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Construction, Mr. Liviu Oboroc, members of the RDC, Mayors in the District Cahul, and Specialists from the South Regional Development Agency.

Liviu Oboroc stressed the importance of today's meeting to approve the Regional Sectorial program for water supply and sewer systems. "This program is the result of almost two years of activity from the team made up of representatives from the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction, Regional Development Agencies, the German Agency for International Development and the Local Public Administrations.

The program derives from the national documents, but because of the Regional Working Group, the program has its specifics. For the south region, water supply is a sensitive issue and it is important that each District Council in the region help with suggestions and specific approaches, so that this document has real support from the whole region of the South, "noted Liviu Oboroc.

Regional Sectorial Program for WSS was presented and approved. The Council members come up with proposals and suggestions and voted unanimously.

The South Regional Council was informed by the experts about South RDA's implementation during the first half of the year and of the action plan concerning the elaboration of the Regional Development Strategy (RDS) 2020.

The Service Center Representative for NEXUS Cahul, offered ample information on the migration of citizens from the REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA, in the context of the project "Strengthening Of The Link Between Migration and Development: Testing Platform of Integrated Services for Migrants and their Moldavian Communities ".

The meeting ended with a visit to the project "Rehabilitation of the Area of Rest and Recreation Salt Lake" in the town of Cahul. The project was implemented through the National Regional Development Fund, which aims to develop recreational tourism infrastructure in the south region, with a view to sustainable and balanced economic growth in the region.
